KIMBERLY DILOSA is the fearless leader of YOUTHanasia Foundation Inc. Born and raised in the Greater New Orleans community, Kim is a self-taught community organizer with one resolve: KEEP YOUTH ALIVE!
In 1997, Kimberly Dilosa founded YOUTHanasia Foundation, Inc.to "simply protect her younger sister and cousins" from the streets of Greater New Orleans. They began to tell their friends, and out of genuine concern grew a nonprofit that creates prevention and intervention programs for high school aged youth in grades 8-12. For the past 18 years, Kim Dilosa has kept teenagers alive, safe and off of the streets of Greater New Orleans through the creation of innovative programming based on service learning, mentoring, emotional nurturing, talent discovery and youth-led activism. Kim's energy is contagious, and her knowledge of facts and statistics regarding teenaged youth is extraordinary. This energy and knowledge coupled with Kim's "outside of the box" creativity has resulted in her receiving local and national awards including: BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF LOUISIANA ANGEL AWARD, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS COMMUNITY QUARTERBACK AWARD, ROBERT WOOD JOHNSON FOUNDATION COMMUNITY HEALTH LEADER AWARD, ESSENCE MAGAZINE POWERFUL WOMAN OF THE MONTH....AND KIM IS CURRENTLY AN INAUGURAL W. K. KELLOGG FOUNDATION COMMUNITY FELLOW (2014 -- 2017).
Kim is careful to STAY TRUE TO GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING! She uses her knowledge to help personally create and mentor other organizations, and to help improve existing organizations so more kids in Greater New Orleans can be helped. Her support base is wide spread, and her community organizing has become synonymous with community improvement and quality youth development in Greater New Orleans. Kim taps into all resources to create uncommon experiences for common kids growing up in common communities. She is a 1992 graduate of Xavier University Preparatory School and a 1997 graduate of Tuskegee University. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
